GRUB cannot boot FreeBSD 3.1?

Hi, 

When I try booting FreeBSD 3.1-Release from GRUB, it says:

command> root=(hd1,0)
 Filesystem type unknown, partition type 0xa5

Is 3.1 too new for GRUB?  If so, which is the latest version bootable?
