[miles@speakeasy.org: 2.4.0-test9-pre6 -- SCSI initialization is full of timeouts when SCSI support is built as a module.]

Hi,

This message from lkml echos the problem that I have been having with the
oskit snapshots. As I can get my controller to work under Linux, could it
be that, as this message suggests, oskit is not including all of the required
kernel support for this family of adapters?

Thanks,
-Neal

When I build the SCSI stuff into the kernel, I get the following:

(scsi0) <Adaptec AIC-7860 Ultra SCSI host adapter> found at PCI 0/15/0

Here are the kernel options I am using for the in-kernel build:

CONFIG_SCSI=y
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_SD=y
CONFIG_SD_EXTRA_DEVS=40
CONFIG_SCSI_DEBUG_QUEUES=y
CONFIG_SCSI_CONSTANTS=y
CONFIG_SCSI_AIC7XXX=y
CONFIG_AIC7XXX_CMDS_PER_DEVICE=8
CONFIG_AIC7XXX_RESET_DELAY=5

Here are the options for the module build:

CONFIG_SCSI=m
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_SD=m
CONFIG_SD_EXTRA_DEVS=40
CONFIG_SCSI_DEBUG_QUEUES=y
CONFIG_SCSI_CONSTANTS=y
CONFIG_SCSI_AIC7XXX=m
CONFIG_AIC7XXX_CMDS_PER_DEVICE=8
CONFIG_AIC7XXX_RESET_DELAY=5
