RACAL BRINGS AFFORDABLE NETWORK MANAGEMENT TO SMALL NETWORKS

August 30, 1993 -- SUNRISE, FL -- Racal-Datacom has released a new set of
PC-based entry-level software products, designed for authorized Racal
distributors. The new products bring the "large system" functionality and
benefits of the Communications Management Series (CMS) 400 network
management to departments and small businesses at an affordable price.

The CMS 400 is a modular management system that controls the broad range of
Racal-Datacom local area and wide area network devices as well as non
RacalDatacom products using the standard SNMP interface protocol.

"All features of the CMS 400 element management system have been preserved
in an entry level system that has been resized to address the needs of
small network users," said Scott Bagnall, Racal-Datacom senior product
manager. The CMS 400 software runs with Microsoft's Windows on an IBM
compatible PC.

The new applications include a CMS 400 Leased Access Manager for Windows, a
CMS 400 LAN Internetworking Manager for Windows, and a CMS 400 Dial Access
Manager for Windows.

The CMS 400 Leased Access Manager application offers a Microsoft Windows
color graphical interface and "point and click" mouse control to manage
Racal-Datacom access devices in a leased-line private network. The
Excalibur family, Omnimode family, Omnimux family, and the Racal-Datacom
line of switching and restoral equipment are managed with this
application.

The CMS 400 LAN Internetworking Manager is a graphics-based Windows
software application for configuring, monitoring and controlling the
Racal-Datacom INX intelligent hub and RNX router products adhering to the
SNMP protocol. Users can automatically discover, monitor, and poll the
health of any SNMP device on the network.

The CMS 400 Dial Access Manager is a Windows software application for
monitoring and controlling Racal-Datacom RMD and ALM dial access devices
in a public switched network environment. The Dial Access Manager offers
the capability to collect and measure call performance information which
allows network and element problems to be quickly identified and isolated.
This eliminates costly and time-consuming delays and retries. The call
statistics collected by CMS are stored and exported in a standard dBase IV
format allowing users to generate reports and charts using commercially
available programs such as MS's Excel and Access

The new CMS 400 products arc being offered through Racal-Datacom's U.S. and
international indirect channels and will be made available in September
1993. RacalDatacom is also offering authorized resellers a complete
demonstration kit that includes a CMS 400 system and supporting
literature.

A subscription update service is available for both users and resellers
which includes telephone support, CMS Electronic Bulletin Board, and two
new releases per year.

Racal-Datacom offers network solutions for the delivery and management of
information between local and remote locations. The company offers the
widest range of local area and wide area networking products and services
in the industry. Racal's broad product line is managed by a single, open
