CODAR INTRODUCES CHEETAH RUGGEDIZED PORTABLE WORKSTATION

Longmont, CO. -- September 13, 1993 -- Codar Technology, Inc. introduces
the Cheetah Ruggedized Portable SPARCstation, a powerful,
high-performance, VME-based, lightweight workstation that features a
unique modular design especially well suited for on-the-move operation in
military vehicles. The ruggedized Cheetah is 9.5" high, 14.0" deep and
17.0" wide, operates at temperatures from 0 degrees C to 50 degrees C,
altitudes up to 15,000 feet, humidity from 5% to 95%, and is designed to
meet EMI requirements of MIL-STD-461.

The Cheetah features a Force SPARCengine 2CE CPU, 32 Mbytes RAM, one 1.24
Gbyte hard drive, a 10.4" color active matrix (TFT) display, a sealed
keyboard and integral trackball, graphics adapters for both internal and
external displays, and a custom audio intercom system which allows direct
headset connection with full EMI compliance.

The Cheetah also offers a flexible design that allows users to detach the
keyboard/display and utilize a 13 pound "laptop" system up to six feet
away from the actual workstation. This is ideal for any application that
requires mobility, but is especially well suited for use in military
vehicles where the workstation fits securely between the front seats while
the laptop system is in use. It has been successfully evaluated in High
Mobility Multi-Mission Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV) by personnel from the U.S.
Army's XVIII Airborne Corps.

According to Jim Sewell, Business Development Manager for Codar, "The
Cheetah is ideally suited for use in U.S. Army Tactical programs. The
unique design gives users the computing capabilities of a high-powered
workstation along with the ease of use and flexibility of a truly portable
laptop system. Historically, it has been extremely difficult to operate
computer systems in military vehicles, and the Cheetah provides an
innovative and cost-effective solution."

Codar Technology, Inc. pioneered the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD)
ruggedized computer industry in 1981, and in January 1991, was awarded the
industry's first patent for ruggedized design techniques. Codar is a
financially secure, mature company that leads the industry in designing,
manufacturing, integrating, and supporting ruggedized and TEMPEST computer
systems and subsystems for the Department of Defense and its
subcontractors and allies. Codar has participated in more than 150 DoD
programs worldwide.
