Graphic design studio creates invoicing software for the graphic arts
industry.

September 10, 1993 -- Los Angeles -- Desktop Graphic Services (DGS), a
Macintosh-based design studio serving the advertising and corporate
communities in Los Angeles, CA, has found a new way to branch out in
business: writing their own software and selling it to other designers.

Begun in 1988 as the Macintosh computer became popular with art and design
professionals, DGS has for the last two years worked with major
advertising agencies such as Saatchi & Saatchi, Torrance, Larsen Colby
(now the Colby Agency), Los Angeles and Lintas: Cambell Ewald, Los
Angeles; project work has been for clients such as Toyota Motor Sales,
U.S.A., 20th Century Fox Television and Outrigger Hotels Hawaii.

Owner Eric Jon Oxenberg attributes the company's success to positioning:
"We specialize in an area of production and design that many other artists
claim expertise in but don't really have a fine knowledge of Macintosh
graphics software coupled with extensive experience in Mac hardware and
operating systems."

Needing to estimate and invoice DGS's clients posed a problem, and when
Eric tired of creating invoices anew every time he bid on a new job, he
finally stopped using PageMaker and reproduced his forms with Claris
FileMaker Pro, a well-known database program. The application, dubbed
MacDesign Billing, worked so well that he has begun marketing it by direct
mail and trade magazine advertising.

MacDesign Billing is a complete system for estimating, invoicing and
billing clients. Included are estimate layouts, invoice layouts, an
automatic statement generator, and accounts receivable and YTD business
summary reports. The greatest benefit for designers is that MacDesign
Billing is written in their language costs are entered into familiar
categories such as mechanicals, type, stats, photography and printing.

The software was written on DGS, in-house computer system: a Macintosh IIcx
with a 50Mhz 68030 DiiMo accelerator, 80MB internal hard drive, 105MB
external hard drive, Mass Micro DataPak 44MB removable drive, 14" color
and 19" monochrome Apple displays and an Apple LaserWriter IINTX printer.

MacDesign Billing has a list price of $99.00. It is available by mail
directly from Desktop Graphic Services.

DGS is available for design, computer-generated art production and
consulting. For more information, please call (310) 391-5275 or fax (310)
