Farallon Computing, Inc. has announced EtherWave, a new line of IBM
compatible PCs and Mac daisy chainable 10BASE-T (RJ-45) adapters, cards,
and transceivers for Ethernet.

Use EtherWave to expand 10BASE-T networks by simply "daisy-chaining" PCs,
Macs, PowerBooks, and printers from a single RJ-45 hub port or wall jack.
EtherWave saves you time and money because you don't have to pull
additional cabling simply to add a few more network nodes in an office or
workspace. Use EtherWave to expand the capacity of already installed
10BASE-T wiring hubs and concentrators.

Use EtherWave products to quickly and easily create small, ad hoc networks
by building up to 8-node networks without a hub. No special understanding
of Ethernet, structured wiring, or 10BASE-T is required. And, because it
is 100% 10BASE-T compatible, small EtherWave networks can easily grow
into or be connected to larger Ethernet networks.

EtherWave adapters finally make it possible to simply and reliably add
PowerBooks, printers, slotless Macs, and even Newton MessagePads to
Ethernet networks. Simply plug the appropriate adapter into the LocalTalk
port of these devices and connect them to other PCs or Macs, or directly
to a 10BASE-T port. For Macs and PowerBooks, an optional high speed
serial driver boosts the EtherWave Adapter to better than SCSI adapter
performance without the hassle.

ETHERWAVE FAMILY HIGHLIGHTS

--EtherWave Cards, Adapters, and Transceivers are 100% 10BASE-T compatible.
They work with any 10BASE-T port or network.

--All EtherWave PC and Macintosh Cards, Transceivers, and Mac Adapters have
2 self-terminating RJ-45 ports. Unlike thinnet, adding nodes to the
network doesn't require bringing the network down. EtherWave cards can be
used in a daisy-chain or more traditional star configuration connected
directly to a hub.

--EtherWave products can be used together to create networks of up to 8
nodes and 100 meters (330 feet) end-to-end without a hub. EtherWave
products can be also used to add up to 7 additional devices to any
10BASE-T hub port. Any 10BASE-T product such as EtherMac(tm) cards or
Ether10-T Starlet(tm) can be installed at the ends of an EtherWave daisy
chain.

--The Auto Crossover feature means that installing EtherWave products can
be done without any concern about using "crossover" or "straight-through"
RJ-45 cables.

--A set of diagnostic LEDs is located on each Card, Adapter, and
Transceiver, simplifying installation and providing at-a-glance network
monitoring.

--EtherWave's Power-off, passthrough feature means that powering off a Mac
or PC with an EtherWave Card, Adapter, or Transceiver installed does not
cause any network disruption.

--EtherWave products won't impact a network's repeater hop count budget.
10BASE-T networks are limited to no more than 4 repeater hubs between 2
network nodes. With EtherWave, larger networks can be safely expanded,
with no impact to network performance.

--A 4.5-meter (15 feet) level-3 RJ-45 cable is included with each Card,
Adapter, and Transceiver.

--Lifetime Warranty on all EtherWave products.
