New Pricing on Lahey's 32-bit Fortran and Pre-purchase Plan for Upcoming
Fortran 90

Incline Village, Nevada, September 8, 1993 -- Lahey Computer Systems has
reduced the price of F77L-EM/32 by 33%, and introduced a $400 pre-purchase
price for their PC Fortran 90.

32-bit Fortran Price Reduced 33%

"With the price of F77L-EM/32 dropping from $1195 to $795, we are making
EM/32 available to the more price-sensitive buyer. This is the first time
our 32-bit Fortran has been priced below $1000," remarked Guy Ceragioli,
Vice President of Marketing. "As an added bonus, EM/32 5.2 includes a new
version of our SOLD (Source On-Line Debugger)."

Fortran 90 Pre-purchase

Lahey's Fortran 90 is under development and can be purchased today by those
owning the current version of EM/32. Unlike competing products, Lahey's
Fortran 90 does not use translator technology nor is it a FORTRAN 77 with
just a few 90 features. It's a full Fortran 90 that even has popular 77
extensions not included in the new standard. It will become Lahey's
premier product for developing or porting Fortran programs.

"The $400 Fortran 90 pre-purchase helps to answer the demand and interest
we are getting from users for a Lahey Fortran 90 language system. We are
rewarding the early buyer with a great price, and giving these customers a
chance to begin using beta versions of our Fortran 90 as early as January
1994. New EM/32 buyers can take the $400 they save on the price of EM/32
and use it to pre-purchase our Fortran 90," commented Mr. Ceragioli.

The Fortran 90 Pre-purchase Plan: 1) guarantees the buyer they will be one
of the first to receive Lahey's Fortran 90 2) guarantees them the lowest
price for Version 1.0, and 3) gives domestic buyers the option of
receiving an early release through the beta-test program. Lahey Fortran 90
beta testing is scheduled to begin in the 1st quarter of 1994, and the
official release is scheduled early in the 2nd quarter. The $400 Fortran
90 pre-purchase is subject to expiration on or before December 31, 1993.

Fortran 90 Product Description

The Fortran 90 language system combines Lahey's Fortran compiler design
with Intel Corporation's highly optimized code generation technology. By
using the Intel code generator, Lahey will deliver a product optimized for
the 386, 486 and Intel Pentium processors. Lahey's Fortran 90 is a full
implementation of the Fortran 90 Standard. This means users can run all
their programs written in Fortran 77 and take advantage of 90 features to
write new applications or optimize older programs. For example, Fortran 90
array expressions help users write tighter and faster code. Other key 90
features include: Data Types (Structures, Pointers, Kind, . . .), new
program control features (DO/END DO, DO WHILE, CASE, . . .) better array
handling, more intrinsic functions, modules and procedures, and more.
Lahey Fortran 90 is designed for professionals who need fast execution
speed and want to use the latest Fortran programming features.

F77L-EM/32 Product Description

F77L-EM/32 Version 5.2 is a highly optimized language system for
scientists, engineers, and programmers who downsize or develop large
Fortran applications. With EM/32 and the bundled Phar Lap DOS-Extender,
programs as large as 4GB can easily be moved from workstations and
mainframes to personal computers. EM/32 includes the features and software
tools essential to writing efficient and portable code. It is a complete
implementation of the Fortran 77 Standard and it contains popular DEC VAX,
IBM VS, and Fortran 90 features. EM/32 also includes a full suite of
software tools to assist the programmer: Editor, Profiler, Make Utility,
Video Graphics and a new enhanced Debugger. The latest version of Lahey's
debugger includes an upgraded and faster user interface, better on-line
help, and an improved Action Window. The Action Window is used for
entering commands and displaying output.

Availability and Pricing

EM/32 Version 5.2 is available today at a list price of $795 with updates
