Legalmaster
Law Firm Financial Management Software for the Connoisseur

Legalmaster is for the person who recognizes that software properly
designed and written can turn a function as mundane as time accounting and
billing into a pleasurable, rewarding and creative experience. While there
are hundreds of time and billing packages available, Legalmaster has
repeatedly won plaudits from both users and independent consultants.
Legalmaster is currently in use by over 12,000 Attorneys in Law Firms,
Corporate Legal Departments et alii in organizations of from one to 300
professionals. Since smaller firms pay less for functionally equivalent
software, Legalmaster is equally attractive to firms of virtually any
size.

An exceptional feature of Legalmaster is its manufacturer's add-on policy.
You can choose those modules that are cost-effective to you now and add
others as you need them.

Legalmaster consists of a standard version and eight optional modules, each
performing a variety of functions. All of the modules are fully
integrated, thereby eliminating the need for any redundant entry of
information.

Standard Version: Roughly half of all Legalmaster's users choose to get
only what we call the standard version. This version allows you to keep
track of time and advanced costs for billing purposes, print bills in a
few thousand formats (which may vary from client to client or matter to
matter), split the fees and costs for a matter among multiple clients,
maintain accounts receivable (fees, costs, finance charges, sales taxes),
monitor retainer and escrow trust accounts, produce a wide variety of
management reports, and store detailed financial transactions
indefinitely. The standard version also includes a series of report
writers allowing you to tailor your own reports; we call them MIRC,
Management Information Report Control.

It is difficult in this limited space to convey the wealth of Legalmaster's
features that, taken together, so easily separate this product from those
that consider themselves competitors.

* Clients and Matters may be entered "on the fly" during the entry of
financial transactions, thereby eliminating the necessity of exiting from
one function to perform the other.

* What CSP calls "narrative description codes" may be created to avoid the
need to type commonly used phrases; these abbreviations may also be added
on the fly, so you may create one just as you realize the need for it.
Legalmaster will even capitalize the first letter in whatever a code
represents if the code begins a sentence.

* Clients, Matters, Attorneys, etc. may be looked up in pop-up windows, so
you needn't memorize any codes.

* A time or cost entry may be altered in any way without having to delete
and reenter the transaction. A time entry may even be moved from one
matter to another and Legalmaster automatically recalculates the billing
rate.

* Activity for one matter may be split among multiple clients; though the
transactions are entered but once, they appear on all bills with a
pro-rata calculation of the total.

* The sophisticated date sensitivity of Legalmaster permits you to enter
the current month's activity prior to billing and closing last month.

* Hundreds of thousands of historical transactions may be retained with
virtually no response degradation to the day-to-day functions of the
software.

* A series of reports may be requested to be printed automatically one
after another so that many periodically required reports may be run
overnight by an unattended machine.

Legalmaster's optional modules:

Import -- There are many sources of billable data that you may wish to pass
on to your clients. Legalmaster's Import Module accepts data from about
two dozen other softwware and hardware systems to assist you in recovering
costs advanced without rekeying the data.

Remote is used by firms that wish to be able to enter financial activity at
more than one computer but either do not have a network or do not wish
certain people to have access to the network. Data at the remote
station(s) may be passed to the host machine via floppy diskettes or
cable. The remote stations may perform code validations and look-ups.

Conflicts is designed to minimize the likelihood that you are involved with
the same person in more than one matter. Its purpose is to assist you in
avoiding malpractice. Many malpractice insurance carriers require (or
reward you with lower premiums if you have) an automated conflicts system.
The primary advantage of Legalmaster's Conflict Module is that it searches
through client and matter names in the billing system as well as through
additional names that you may enter.

Working Attorney Revenue Distribution is designed for firms that frequently
have more than one timekeeper working on the same matter and wish to be
able to allocate the fee portion of the receipt. This module is unrelate
to the billing function per se, it is purely a managment reporting
function, although its data come from the same sources as does the billing
information.

The G/L interface is generally licensed by firms that have fairly
sophisticated charts of accounts in their General Ledgers and wish the
accounts receivable transactions captured by Legalmaster to be sent to the
G/L with no redundant entry required. Without this module, Legalmaster is
still capable of producing reports with totals for G/L posting.

Legalmaster's calendar is a sophisticated appointment book permitting
reports to be sorted by client, matter, employee, date, type of event,
etc.

Merge is used by firms with multiple offices, each of which has its own
complete version of Legalmaster, but the home office wishes to produce
company-wide reports.

Security is used primarily by firms who are on a network and who don't feel
all of their users should have access to all functions or data. One unique
and commonly requested feature allows a user to be limited to whose time
may be entered or altered.

SUPPORT/TRAINING: CSP's support has been repeatedly touted as the best in
the business (by, among others, the ABA). All phone calls to the company
are answered directly fo the support department. Average response time is
10 seconds! The length of the free period of unlimited support is six
months for firms with more than 10 timekeepers, three months for all
others.

Training conventions are held three times per year and moved about the
country. On-site training is also available; one intensive day is all that
is typically required.

SUPPORT MATERIALS: Legalmaster comes with a 600 page Users' Reference
Manual showing every screen and describing every keystroke. The manual has
been evaluated for completeness and understandability by, among others,
Price Waterhouse and IBM Corporation.

DEMONSTRATION: A fully functional demonstration version is available for
$15 ($70 if you want the complete manual). This fee applies towards the
license. The demonstration version includes sample data; you may add your
own, as well.
