RACAL-DATACOM LAN PERFORMANCE ANALYZER UPGRADED

Sept. 13, 1993 -- SUNRISE, FL. -- Release 1.3 of the Racal-Datacom LAN
Performance Analyzer (LPA) is now shipping. LPA complements the
Racal-Datacom WAN Performance Analyzer (WPA) in providing customers with
the necessary tools to perform proactive performance monitoring and
analysis to ensure maximum availability of an entire LAN/WAN
inter-network. In addition, the LPA is an integral component of the Racal
Management System.

The LAN Performance Analyzer is a software product that provides the
ability to proactively manage a single LAN segment/ring or LAN
segments/rings spread throughout an enterprise-wide network. Designed for
network managers and MIS professionals, LPA combines stand-alone network
monitoring and analysis with remote network monitoring via industry
standard network management protocols.

The LPA offers real-time monitoring, network analysis, full protocol
decoding, automatic network baselining, alarming, load simulation,
automatic network mapping, and much more. The on-line consultant provides
a guided problem-solving capability to help diagnose and solve network
problems. All major LAN protocols can be monitored and decoded. The LPA
supports the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and the remote
monitoring RMON MIB, to form an integrated, enterprise-wide network
control system. The product runs on IBM-compatible 486 computers under the
OS/2 V2.0 and V2.1 operating systems.

The new 1.3 release includes the following new features in addition to a
number of other improvements:

* A point and click solution bar for predefined monitoring
  and analysis functions
* Out-of-band LAN communication between LPA Managers and
  LPA Agents
* SNA alert generation
* Cursor-sensitive help
* Decoding of ISO protocols
* Support for DDE to Windows applications (under OS/2 V2.1)
* Filtering and file handling enhancements

The LPA is a tool for the management of an entire enterprise-wide network
for greater organizational productivity and more efficient use of critical
corporate resources.

LPA integrates the industry-leading performance analysis system designed by
ProTools, Inc. with other components of the Racal Management System. An
example of this integration is alarm consolidation with the CMS 400. This
consolidation enables automated and self-healing network operations.
Automated operations capabilities of the CMS 400 can initiate user defined
command scripts which can be used for proactive self-healing.
Additionally, Racal-Datacom's WAN Performance Analyzer (WPA) may be
invoked via the new Solution Bar feature in the LPA.

LPA FOUNDATION MANAGER

The central network management product, LPA Foundation Manager, monitors
and analyzes network traffic on both the local network as well as remote
sub-networks. The LPA Foundation Manager supports both Ethernet and Token
Ring within the same product.

LPA CORNERSTONE AGENT (LPACAE and LPACAT)

The LPA Cornerstone Agent resides on remote sub-networks, serving as both a
remote agent for LPA Foundation Manager as well as a stand-alone local
network analyzer. It contains a subset of the functions of the LPA
Foundation Manager so it can also be used as a stand-alone analyzer on a
single LAN segment. The LPA Cornerstone Agent supports either Ethernet or
Token Ring operation depending on the specific model number ordered.

Pricing for the LPA products starts at $1,05.
