mdbs ships Windows-based reporting tool, M/4 Report

LAFAYETTE, IN - September 1, 1993 - Micro Data Base Systems, Inc. (mdbs) is
shipping M/4 Report, a Windows-based reporting tool for the MDBS IV
client/server database engine.

Reporting Ease of Use

Windows Based M/4 Report is the first Windows-based reporting tool for
MDBS IV. This product was developed by Advanced Programming Techniques,
Inc. (APT) of Boston for mdbs. "MDBS IV customers will benefit greatly
from this package," says Barry Parshall, MDBS IV Product Manager. "M/4
Report was fundamentally developed for the network model engine. It is the
first end-user reporting tool that taps the enormous potential and
flexibility of the MDBS IV engine."

Ease of Use

Although developers can benefit from the tool, M/4 Report is targeted
primarily to end-users. By combining the modeling flexibility of the
network model database with the familiar relational paradigm, M/4 Report
enables virtually any MDBS IV user to design custom reports quickly and
easily. "M/4 Report gives end-users the ability to design true WYSIWYG
reports," says Elizabeth Gooding, President of APT. "A report designer can
drag and drop columns anywhere on the layout and create multiple sort
levels for multiple groups with ease. Very complex reports can be created
with just a few clicks of a mouse button. No programming is required."

Rich Features

M/4 Report has all the features that users expect from a Windows reporting
tool, including a wide variety of statistical functions and export
features. A comprehensive installation and set-up procedure allows the
product to handle the sophisticated MDBS IV network model database,
including the modeling of true many-to-many relationships.
