Microsoft will begin charging support fees for all its operating system
products, including Windows. As of October, buyers of MS-DOS, Windows and
Windows for WorkGroups will receive 90 days of free technical support, but
will then have to pay for additional support. Users of Microsoft
applications, such as Excel or Word, will continue to receive support for
free.

Microsoft has targeted consumer software as a potential growth market and
in the coming months will offer at least six home entertainment multimedia
programs based on material from Byron Press, a New York-based CD-ROM
publisher. The first offering will be "Isaac Asimov's The Ultimate Robot,"
an interactive exploration of the world of robots. A version for the
Macintosh will be available this fall, followed by a Windows version in
early 1994.

Blue Jean Bond is a 100% cotton recycled paper made from the tattered
remains of blue denim fabrid. The paper has a distinctive blue cast and
visible threads for the ultimate in environmental correctness. Supposedly

Novell unveiled NetWare Connect, a NetWare Loadable Module that offers
mobile, remote, and centralized network users with inbound and outbound
communication paths. A replacement for NetWare Asynchronous Communications
Services (NACS), the software allows NetWare servers, bulletin boards,
service bureaus, or remote hosts to be dialed up over asynchronous, X.25
or ISDN lines. Should be available in October for $187 per port.

Fargo Electronics has a free Amiga driver for their Primera color printer

Lotus will soon begin shipping cc:Mail Group Pack, an entry level messaging
solution aimed at small businesses and corporate workgroups. Bundled with
Organizer, the company's personal information manager, the new
electronic-mail package will be priced at $845 for a 10-user
configuration.

PageBlaster plugs into a fax modem and low-cost color printer to print
color PostScript images from remote sites, or plain paper Group 3 faxes.
