EA SPORTS TOP GUNS RELOAD FOR '94

Madden '94 & NHL '94 Expected To Highlight Strong Holiday Season

CHICAGO, IL, June 3, 1993--EA SPORTS, the leading publisher of interactive
sports entertainment and a division of Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS),
announced today its plans to ship 1994 versions of its award-winning
football and hockey franchise titles. John Madden Football '94 and NHL
Hockey '94 will be available later this year for the Sega Genesis and
Super NES.

These two new titles represent not just a routine update of teams, player
statistics, animations, and graphics--they have been enhanced
substantially with the NFL license for Madden '94 and the NHL/NHLPA
combination for NHL '94.

JOHN MADDEN FOOTBALL '94

To the delight of its consumers, EA SPORTS has taken the best-selling
16-bit football video game of all time, John Madden Football, and added a
National Football League (NFL) license to the new, highly-anticipated 1994
version. This makes the authenticity in the game even greater as NFL team
logos appear everywhere--on helmets, in endzones, on the team selection
setup screen, and throughout the playoffs and the Super Bowl. In fact, the
official NFL logo is now emblazoned at midfield.

Madden '94 now features over 40 teams, which include every NFL team, two
All-Madden Teams, and 12 "franchise" teams. "Franchise" teams feature a
collection of the best-ever players from their respective teams--playing
together--to allow gamers to play with the finest players of the past
along with the best of today.

Madden '94 allows players to compete in a full 16-game NFL season and post
season. With a new battery backup feature (Sega only), players choose a
team, create a schedule, and prepare to take their favorite NFL team all
the way. They can choose to be the Eagles, 49ers, Chiefs, Cowboys, or any
other one of 28 NFL teams.

In addition, the playoffs in Madden '94 are arranged exactly like those of
the NFL, as 12 teams grind it out with the hope of making it to Super Bowl
Sunday. Players can also arrange their season schedule so as to play a
different team each week--first the Bears, then the Raiders, and on to the
Bills, the Redskins, and the entire league!

This award-winning game has a new engine that gets players closer to the
action with a lower field perspective that allows the football players to
appear larger and makes the pass plays easier to follow downfield.

Specific features in the Super NES version are highlighted by the Mode 7
rotating field. Each time the ball changes possession--whether an
interception, a fumble, or a loss of downs--the field spins in one fluid
motion and the other team takes over. Instant replay now features a 360
degree rotating field and players can review their best plays from any
perspective in the stadium.

John Madden's personality truly shines through the Super NES version of
Madden '94. For the first time on the Super NES, his exclamations--which
have been recorded and digitized into the game so that they sound
remarkably similar to those of a game on TV--can be heard after a big hit,
after a diving catch for a touchdown, and after a number of other exciting
plays.

The '94 Super NES version also features a much faster game. Players can
more speedily turn the comer to elude oncoming defenders, and the "mph"
button gives the players better control and allows them to be more
aggressive.

NHL HOCKEY '94

For the first time ever, EA SPORTS will feature all the teams in the NHL
AND all the players of the NHLPA. Combining hockey's leading organizations
gives this title's game a big lift, as NHL Hockey '94 now features real
team logos, the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and every hockey player in the
league.

NHL Hockey '94 improves on last year's version with an array of new
features. Teams and player ratings are updated, as are new player
animations and new offensive and defensive commands and strategies. And
between periods, gamers have access to updated player data such as
power-play goals, short-handed goals, assists, penalty shots, breakaways,
body checks, and more.

To give the home team momentum and duplicate the atmosphere of a real
hockey game, authentic music from an NHL Hockey arena organist has been
digitized into NHL Hockey '94. In addition, new checking animations--like
a defenseman crushing a forward into the boards --give the '94 version an
enhanced look and feel. Even the fans are more interactive, as they can be
seen getting more emotionally involved--even rowdy--in the game.
