Kanata, Ontario, Canada -- Pika Technologies Inc. previously announced the
release of ReVerb, a Microsoft Windows-based voice editor designed
specifically for creation of prompts for voice response systems.

"PIKA's ReVerb Voice Prompt Editor offers systems integrators an excellent
tool for developing professional sounding voice prompts for use with voice
mail and IVR system" sayd Peter Karneef, President - Operation at Pika
Technologies.

General Features

With a user friendly Microsoft Windows graphical user interface, ReVerb
supports the creation of both individual voice files, and indexed phrase
files containing several voice prompts. For editing multiple phrases,
ReVerb allows many phrase files and voide editor windows open at the same
time. It also provides 'zoom buttons' to alter the amount of the voice
sample displayed in the window.

For easy manipulation of voice prompts, ReVerb makes phrase lists for the
current project file available on the desktop. Editing or listening to a
phrase is as simple as one mouse click away. ReVerb also supports
unlimited length phrase names and complete phrase text to be used as the
phrase name.

As a true MS Windows application, the package supports drag-drop operations
from file manager and between windows. It also supports cut/paste
operations from phrase file to phrase file, and from phrase file to voice
editor and vice versa. Automatic sampling rate conversion and anti-alias
filtering on cut and paste operations are also available.

With its unique 'bulk processing capability' ReVerb allows users to select
'all prompts' in their workspace with a couple of mouse clicks. By simply
selecting the desired function command, ReVerb will operate on all the
selected prompts automatically.

With its phrase concatenation testing capability, ReVerb allows the testing
of phrase concatenation using a drag-drop onto a phrase window prior to
permanently modifying the phrase. Often in voice response systems, phrases
are built at run-time by concatenation saay numbers and phrases together -

     e.g. <"you have"> <"two"> <"new messages">

Voice & Sound Card Support

ReVerb works with PIKA and DIALOGIC voice cards, plus all Windows MPS
compatible sound cards, both 8 bit and 16 bit. Other industry standard
voice cards will also be supported in the future.

Digital Signal Processing Sound Effects

ReVerb offers a full set of signal processing sound effects. All effects
have a test button so the user can hear the results before saving changes.
These effects can be performed either on the selected part or the whole
phrase. Sound effects include: echo, frequency filter, silence clean,
silence pad, insert silence, insert DTMF tone, merge (mix) voice files,
envelope adjustment, gain control, fast/slow speed adjust and sampling
rate change.

Recording

ReVerb supports audio recording using any sampling rate and sample size
supported by the user's voice hardware.

Management of prompt recording is made easy by selection of a text file
containing the names of the prompts the user wishes to record. The system
will prompt for each new recording. It allows the user to re-record a
prompt if required, and store the recordings as they go.

Using a Windows sound card, high quality recordings can be made at high
resolution (i.e. 22kHz, 16 bit) for high quality voice prompts. These
prompts can be archived as masters, and ReVerb will perform conversion to
most popular coding formats such as ADPCM or PCM.

With its time saving Automatic recording mode, ReVerb can save hours or
laborious voice prompt editing by automatically processing bulk recordings
from a tape, using silence detection to determine the start of each
prompt. This feature allows recordings to be made off-site onto tape using
a professional announcer. The system can then process the audio in
real-time, creating a set of individual prompt files without human
intervention.

File Formats & Phrase File Operations

Supports for multiple voice file formats with ReVerb includes: Compressed
ADPCM (PIKA or DIALOGIC), u-law and A-law PCM, Windows WAV files, VBASE40
indexed file format, unformatted 16-bit linear files, and ReVerb native
format.

In addition, ReVerb also allows sampling rate conversion and the automatic
splitting of large voice files into individual prompts for editing using
silence detection.
