EA SPORTS SIGNS BASKETBALL PHENOM SHAQUILLE O'NEAL TO MULTI-PRODUCT
CONTRACT

FIRST GAMES TO BE AVAILABLE ON SEGA GENESIS & SUPER NINTENDO ENTERTAINMENT
SYSTEM

CHICAGO, IL, June 3, 1993--EA SPORTS, the leading publisher of interactive
sports entertainment and a division of Electronic Arts (NASDAQ:ERTS),
recently announced that it has signed a multi-year licensing agreement
with the Orlando Magic's rookie superstar Shaquille O'Neal to co-design a
line of basketball games.

The games will initially be developed for play on the Sega Genesis and
Super Nintendo Entertainment System . CD-ROM and PC formats will be
considered for future development. The first game is scheduled to be on
store shelves in late 1993, concurrent with the start of the new pro
basketball season.

"Not since Michael Jordan has such a dominant rookie come into the NBA,"
said Don Traeger, EA SPORTS executive producer. "Shaq's charismatic style
and overwhelming success has the basketball world buzzing. We plan to
combine his on-court tenacity and charming personality with advanced
technology to make games that have never before been seen."

O'Neal's real-life image will be digitized and incorporated into the games
as new breakthroughs have allowed technology from TV and the movies to be
brought into games for the home.

The 7-foot-1-inch, 300-pound rookie superstar O'Neal is happy with his
decision. "EA SPORTS has created some great games and together we will
make my games the best. I'm looking forward to integrating my hard
slamming, jamming, intimidating, in your face style into their games."

O'Neal's agent Leonard Armato says the agreement came down to the game
publisher's successful history. "EA SPORTS has established itself as the
premier sports game-maker," he said. "Shaq and EA will make a great team
designing exciting games that will capture everyone's imagination."

"Shaq joins EA SPORTS' impressive hall-of-fame lineup of Dr. J, Larry Bird
and Michael Jordan. He will continue EA's tradition of creating excellent
games with basketball greats," added Traeger.
