SIGMA DESIGNS ENTERS INTO JOINT DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT WITH PIXEL
TRANSLATIONS

Announces availability of high level, Advanced Imaging Manager (AIM)
ToolRit

FREMONT, Calif., August 26, 1993 -- Sigma Designs, Inc. (NASDAQ--SIGM)
today announced that it has entered into a joint development agreement
with Pixel Translations, a leading provider of image display, image
printing and image compression and decompression tools.

Under the terms of the agreement, Sigma Designs and Pixel Translations will
jointly make available a high level API (Application Programming
Interface) for developers using Sigma's imaging display controller
products. The new API, Advanced Imaging Manager (AIM), provides an image
management library and a set of development tools for applications
developers. The API allows Windows 3.x developers access to an array of
accelerated display and printing image enhancement routines, resulting in
substantially improved performance in document imaging applications.

"We are extremely happy to be partnering with Pixel Translations to deliver
a complete, high level development kit for imaging processionals and
developers," said David Rose, group manager, imaging products at Sigma
Designs.

"The combination of Pixel Translations' image management techniques with
Sigma's hardware delivers the fastest and most powerful display products
in terms of resolution, performance and developer support," continued
Rose.

Based on existing technology from Pixel Translations, AIM offers new
extensions beyond Pixel Translations' standard image display product
including special support for Sigma's display controller hardware and
support for Sigma's direct image print capability. AIM also provides
advanced image caching for the best available image flip rates and
capabilities for scaling, rotation, scale-to-gray, scrolling, and
decompression of images.

"Sigma Designs offers a full line of outstanding products for the imaging
display market," said Steve Francis, vice president of marketing at Pixel
Translations. "By developing an API with Sigma Designs, we are offering
imaging developers an interface which works with Sigma's products, but
also supports a variety of other peripherals."

Sigma Designs will be integrating AIM technology into all of its existing
products as well as many of its new, high-performance imaging display
systems. Supporting extremely high resolutions and refresh rates, Sigma
products offer display solutions for both color and monochrome/grayscale
systems. Sigma's new product offerings, the WinMach 1600XP and MultiMode
200XP, also feature hardware-based document image compression,
decompression, rotation, and scaling capabilities, providing the most
robust features and capabilities for complex document imaging
applications.

Demonstrating Sigma's commitment to customer service and support, Sigma
will be offering a comprehensive program for developers taking advantage
of their new AIM toolkit. The program includes thorough technical support
by Sigma and Pixel Translations' development staff, expanded toolkits,
evaluation equipment, and incentives for rapid implementation. The AIM
toolkit is available for immediate shipment to document imaging
application developers.

Developers can also be secure in the knowledge that by writing to the AIM
API, all supported imaging display functions are implemented across the
entire Sigma product line, thereby ensuring continuing support of Sigma's
evolving family of imaging products. Additionally, application developers
minimize recurring engineering costs by writing to a single API with
universal product line support and expandability.
