ISA, EISA, and Fast EISA specs defined and explained for designers

SAN DIEGO, CA, Sept. 1, 1993 -- Ed Solari's newest book, ISA & EISA Theory
and Operation, has replaced his best-selling AT Bus Design, and covers
both buses in a uniform and logical fashion. The Addendum, which has just
been released, covers EISA EMB (Enhanced Master Burst, also called Fast
EISA). EMB allows transfers up to 133 Mbytes/second.

The first part of each chapter is concerned with the ISA bus. This part of
the book is substantially the same as the material in AT Bus Design, but
in some cases has been re-stated in order to achieve consistency with the
EISA and EISA EMB. Mr. Solari was one of the chief authors of the ISA
specification developed by the IEEE P996 working group, and has since
enhanced and corrected the ISA specification in both of his books.

Mr. Solari's involvement in the design of the Intel EISA interface chip set
has kept him in the central position as the bus timing guru through the
EISA and EISA EMB specification development. In fact, some of the portions
of the recently-released EISA specification that are ambiguous or in error
are clarified in ISA & EISA Theory and Operation. The book is also
attractive from an economic point of view: the $89.95 book replaces both
the ISA specification and the $125 EISA specification, and the $29.50
Addendum replaces the $300 EMB specification.

ISA & EISA Theory and Operation is available from Annabooks, 11848 Bernardo
Plaza Ct., Suite 110, San Diego, CA 92128. Annabooks can be reached by
calling 1-800-462-1042, 619-6730870, or 619-673-1432 (FAX). The Addendum
containing the EISA EMB (Fast EISA) is also available now, but not
separately, since it references tables and figures in the book. AT Bus
Design is now out of print, having been replaced with the new book.
