POP ROCKET LAUNCHES TOTAL DISTORTION CD-ROM

POP ROCKET LAUNCHES PIONEERING ENTERTAINMENT SOFTWARE PRODUCT TOTAL
DISTORTION, THE FIRST MUSIC VIDEO ADVENTURE GAME AT CES.

CHICAGO, IL--June 3, 1993 -- Pop Rocket, Inc. announces Total Distortion,
the first Music Video Adventure Game on CD-ROM, at the Summer Consumer
Electronics Show. The company plans to release MPC, Macintosh and 3DO
versions of the product and will exhibit with Electronic Arts at McCormick
Place North, booth #7120. Pop Rocket is an affiliated label of Electronic
Arts.

Total Distortion is a fantastic and entertaining adventure for both kids
and adults. The preview demonstrations have resulted in over 50 featured
articles in major computer, entertainment, and design magazines in Japan,
Europe, and the United States.

Players are Adventurous Music Video Producers as they travel to the
Distortion Dimension in search of fresh material for their music videos!
Mingle with virtual rock stars and make custom music videos. This game,
one of the largest in history, is filled with interactive 3D animation,
challenging games, talking characters, creative activities, and hard
rockin' music!

Pop Rocket President Joe Sparks said: "We are very excited about this
production and the world-class distribution provided by Electronic Arts.
Gauging from the response so far, I believe Total Distortion will be a
milestone product appealing to a large audience. We've received great
interest in the product from leaders in the television, software, and
consumer electronics industries who view TD as a great example of how
mainstream interactive media will be implemented in the future--on
interactive television networks and fiber-optic services."

Total Distortion combines the creativity of music video with the thrill of
adventure gaming. Players of all ages can quickly and easily create
elaborate music videos and sell them to producers back on Earth. The
player is challenged to create videos for TV Producers, who evaluate the
player's music video productions and decide whether or not they want to
buy them. The player must pursue his/her career as a foreigner in the
dangerous and supernatural Dimension of Distortion.

The gaming system within Total Distortion is unique--rewarding courage,
creativity, and intellect with game, fortune, and survival. The player can
customize the levels of difficulty and danger for each playing experience.
Innovative software devices and 3D animation allow them to quickly
assemble music videos, navigate to hr-out locations, and interact with the
bizarre inhabitants on the Plane of Distortion.

Total Distortion Designer Joe Sparks explains the Music Video Adventure
Game concept: "...Total Distortion has many of the elements found in
'traditional' adventure gaming--players have an inventory to store and use
items, stats for your character like physical health, mental health, life
force, and others. Players can die of starvation, violence, traps, etc.,
and more. They have long conversations with talking characters that have
memory, personality and smarts. It all happens in full-blown multimedia:
great 3D animation, over 50 all original songs, professional voice overs,
a giant soundtrack, and over 500 megabytes of top quality, custom-created
interactive media.

Here's the twist--In most adventure games of the Fantasy Sword of the
Ultimate Barbarian variety, players are rewarded with silver keys, bright
gems, and gold pieces which they can use to buy better weapons and
potions. There they find more keys, gems, and gold pieces. In Total
Distortion, players might find a few gems, but the real treasure is 'media
treasure,' as in video clips players can grab with their camera, sound
chips, lost recordings, smart video, and more. They don't just sit in your
inventory, players can take them back to the media station in their tower
and create long, complex, layered music videos with them. These are not
just 'pointless' music videos either. TV Producers back on Earth have the
brains to dissect your creations, and pay or not pay accordingly. They
know if you're trying to cheat them, they know what they like, and it's up
to you to figure out what sells in the TV markets. So, the treasures are
more than just icons, you have to DO something with your treasure.
Something creative..."

Total Distortion, which retails for $99, will receive wide distribution in
North America through the leader in entertainment software, Electronic
Arts Distribution (EAD). Macintosh version due June 1993, MPC version due
fourth quarter 1993.

System Requirements for Macintosh Version: Apple Macintosh Color Computer
with CD-ROM drive, 4 megabytes of RAM or more, 12" Color monitor or
larger, System 6.07 or greater.
