Transparent Language Version 2.0 Released for DOS and Macintosh with major
new interactive learning capabilities

Early users enthusiastic about enhancements including CheckWords, the
Vocabulous! game and Personal Notes

Hollis, NH -- September 20, 1993 -- Transparent Language, Inc. today
announced the release and immediate availability of version 2.0 of its
Transparent Language software for DOS and Macintosh.

Version 2.0 builds on the innovative Transparent Language approach to
foreign language learning by adding new interactive learning capabilities
including CheckWords, the Vocabulous! game, and Personal Notes.
Transparent Language lets users immediately read and enjoy authentic
foreign language material in Spanish, French, German, Italian and Latin.
As users read, they also learn the language.

"Transparent Language version 2.0 is a result of direct feedback from our
20,000 users." said Michael Quinlan, Founder and President "We listened to
our users needs and delivered. The early reaction has been outstanding."
added Quinlan

Early Users

"All the new Transparent Language features are very helpful. I really like
using my personal vocabulary list in the new word game, Vocabulous!" said
Dennis Rayl. Another early user, Susan Lee, said "I love all the new
features! They make Transparent Language even more useful and enjoyable to
use." And Jeff Murray said "Transparent Language Version 2.0 looks like a
winner to me!"

New Features:

CheckWords

Create Personal Review Lists for Each Title. The new "Check Words" features
lets users add words to a personal vocabulary review list by just
"checking" a word in a Title while reading. Review the list at any time,
go directly to any word on the list, print the list, or spend some time in
an interactive on-screen spelling/context exercise session.

Vocabulous!

The Vocabulous! game. Vocabulous! is a context game that lets the user
recreationally practice spelling and word meaning in context. There is a
practice mode that lets the user keep trying each word until it is
correct, and a game mode where the goal is to correctly guess 20 words in
context. Vocabulous! can be played on all words in a Title, or just on the
user's personal CheckWords. In keeping with the Transparent Language
philosophy, all games and practice sessions are based on authentic texts
and true contest.

Personal Notes

Post Personal Notes Anywhere in the Title. With Version 2.0 users can now
post their own comments on any word in the Title. Alternatively, in a
teacher/student situation, the teacher can add his or her comments to
those of the linguist who created the Title, so that students see both
sets of comments at any location in the story. Also, an undocumented
procedure is available to teachers that allows them to "lock" Personal
Notes so that students cannot subsequently change them.

Printing

Print out the Original Language Text. With version 2.0, the story, article
or CheckWord list can be exported to any common word processor for editing
or printing which enables users to read or study when they are not at
their computer.

Linguist's Preface

Integrated Linguist's Preface. Titles are now created with an integrated
preface written by the linguist who created the Title. The preface usually
describes the history of the piece, the author and cultural background.
Version 2 of the Transparent Language Presentation Program displays this
preface on-line when available.

Protects Users Investment

All previously purchased Titles run with Version 2.0. Not only will users
find that all previously purchased Titles run under 2.0, but also that all
the new 2.0 features work on the previously purchased Titles.
