WORLDBUILDERS, INC.

Chicago, IL - June 3, 1993 -- Electronic Arts (NASDAQ:ERTS) today announced
the release of Worldbuilders, Inc. for the 3DO Interactive Multiplayer.
Worldbuilders, Inc. is an epic game of strategy and action, with
educational overtones.

The player takes the role of Chief Executive Officer at Worldbuilders,
Inc., a firm specializing in Terraforming the art and science of
transforming worlds from desolate rocks into planets suitable for
colonization by humankind and friendly alien species. The player's task is
to identify worlds suitable for Terraforming within a compact star
cluster. Exploration is accomplished by an advanced command ship, control
of which lies in the hands of the player. A major contract is at stake,
and rival entrepreneurs are out to ensure that this current mission is
Worldbuilders, Inc.'s last.

Despite the difficulties, the player has a wealth of advanced technology at
his disposal. Miniature black holes can be strategically placed in order
to alter the gravitational pulls and thus orbits of previously-stable
planets. Nanotechnology can be used to alter the atmospheric make-up of a
world, and comets or meteors can be utilized to bombard a planet's surface
to create the right level of water content or gaseous mixture to lead to
the origin of a life-supporting atmosphere. After the acceleration of a
suitable planet's progress toward genesis, the fun really starts.
Appropriate biological packages can be exploited in order to fertilize the
planet, introduce life forms, and do everything that the would-be deity
always dreamed of doing.

It would be too easy if it ended there. Once a planet has been terraformed
and colonized, maintenance is essential so that aberrant life forms that
can extinguish the newly-located populous don't develop and so that rivals
can't force Worldbuilders, Inc. into a combat situation. Indeed, the
player may decide that combat leads to advantageous situations from time
to time (a combat sequence is a fun way to eliminate an opportunely weak
rival!) At any time, a scientific database may be called up which provides
real-life physics and astronomy information, and contains NASA video
footage.

As well as a storyline of a depth and complexity rarely seen in computer
entertainment, Worldbuilders, Inc. illustrates the stunning graphical
abilities of the 3DO Interactive Multiplayer and features a merit listing
that Reads like the closing credits for a Hollywood movie. Producer Noah
Falstein worked at Lucasfilm Games for 8 years where he produced such
gaming classics as Battle Hawks 1942 and co-designed the line of Indiana
Jones graphic adventures. Computer art and effects have been created on
the highly-regarded Silicon Graphics system, and have been directed by the
team of Kurt Kaufman (ex-Industrial Light and Magic) and Syd Mead
(production designer for the movies Tron and Bladerunner). Intensive use
is made of the 3DO Interactive Multiplayer's built-in Cinematic Software
Tools, such as fully-animated 24-bit color displays produced in full
3D-rendering. Compact Video of the characters with which the player
interacts adds to the feel of a cyberspace virtual environment.
