BADGER COMPUTERS INTRODUCES FIRST FULL 486 OUTDOOR PEN BASED HANDHELD
COMPUTER

New Badger 486-P Preloaded With DOS/Windows; Reliable In All Harsh
Environmental and Industrial Conditions

Tampa, FL -- October 4, 1993 -- Badger Computers is introducing the Badger
486P, the first pen-based outdoor handheld computer with all the
functionality of a full-sized 486 PC, also able to withstand any harsh
environmental or industrial field conditions. The small, 3.0-pound Badger
486P is also one of the first pen-based handheld computer featuring
factory-installed MS DOS 6.0, Windows 3.1 and Windows for Pen Computing
software. The Badger 486P is the second product introduced by Badger
Computers, a division of $250 million Group Technologies Corporation.

"The Badger 486P is the first handheld pen-based computer that can brave
the elements, and also provide the data crunching power of a 486 PC and
yet run familiar, off-the-shelf software," said Jim Jones, sales manager
for Badger Computers. "The Badger 486P can be used in the field as a
standard notebook, or as a portable tablet with an electronic cordless pen
for note taking, drawing, and capturing signatures."

The unit's ruggedness meets the mobile data collection and processing
demands of outdoor users in agriculture and forestry; chemical, petroleum,
gas and mining; defense; industrial and manufacturing; law enforcement;
marine; surveying and construction; transportation and shipping; utility
companies and wholesale/retail distribution. Plus the powerful processing
and versatile communication capabilities also meet the specialized needs
of the health care industry and marketing, sales and legal professionals.

The highly-reliable 9-inch by 5.5-inch by 1.3-inch Badger 486P uses a 25MHz
Cyrix 486SLC microprocessor and comes with choices of 20MB to 40MB hard
drives and 4MB to 6MB of RAM. The unit features a detachable
mini-keyboard, a 6-inch backlit VGA (640 x 480) display, a full complement
of I/O ports, pen input, plus built-in communication capabilities
including an internal fax modem and optional Ethernet adapter.

In addition to being a rugged outdoor computer, the Badger 486P can also
serve as the core of a desktop system, with integrated standard I/O ports
that seamlessly connect to a full-size keyboard, external super VGA
monitor, floppy drive, hard drive and printer.

The Badger 486P features a two-hour internal battery and an external 8-hour
battery pack that doubles as a cover to conceal the computer's ports in
the field, and protect the computer's screen when not in use. An optional
3.5-inch, 1.44MB external floppy drive is also available.

The Badger 486P will be marketed through value-added resellers (VARs)
specializing in outdoor applications, who will bundle the unit with
software designed for particular usage. Evaluation units will ship in the
fourth quarter of 1993. The unit will be available in volume in early 1994
for under $3,800.

Based on the Dauphin Technology, Inc. family of portable pen-based DTR
computers, the Badger 486P's ruggedness and high reliability are due to
extensive use of advanced surface mount technology in the manufacturing
process and hermetic packaging developed for harsh military conditions.
These conditions include extreme temperatures, rain, humidity, fungus,
salt fog, blowing sand, chemicals, vibration, drop shock, explosive
atmospheres, solar radiation and electromagnetic fields.

The Badger 486P is the second handheld computer to meet rugged standards
for resistance to all environmental conditions, the first being the Badger
GT-110 handheld computer introduced earlier this year. The Badger GT-110
was the first true rugged handheld computer available for under $2000. It
is also marketed to outdoor users through VARs.

Badger Computers, a division of Group Technologies Corp., is located at
10901 Malcolm McKinley Drive, Tampa, Florida 33612. Formed in 1989, Group
Technologies Corp. also holds the tide to being the world's leading
supplier of key management system solutions for communication security.
