MOLDFLOW ANNOUNCES NEW ENTRY LEVEL FLOW ANALYSIS

(Shelton, Connecticut -- October 15, 1993) Moldflow Pty., the world's
leader in CAE technology for the plastic injection molding industry, is
now delivering MOLDFLOW/FLOW-E for Windows, a plastics flow analysis
package for the injection molding industry. MF/FLOW-E for Windows
introduces the nonskilled user to plastics finite element analysis.

Small to medium sized plastics design and build companies recognize that
Computer Aided Engineering can improve their product quality and
manufacturing efficiency. MF/FLOW-E for Windows meets the demands of these
companies for an inexpensive, easy to use plastics analysis tool that
rapidly provides meaningful results.

MF/FLOW-E for Windows consists of a generic plastic materials database,
interactive 2D flow analysis and finite element 3D analysis. Add on
options include the full Moldflow material database of nearly 3000
thermoplastic grades, and a 4000 node/element expanded FEM capability.

2D flow analysis rapidly establishes material selection, runner/gate layout
and processing window. 3D flow analysis generates a finite element model
compatible with all other Moldflow 3D plastics analysis tools. CAD
generated models can also be imported into MF/FLOW-E for Windows. 3D
graphical flow analysis results display cavity fill pattern, melt
temperature, shear stress and other melt properties. Results from
MF/FLOW-E for Windows can be coupled to MF/COOL cooling analysis to
determine the effects of mold cooling on plastic flow.

MF/FLOW-E for Windows has very practical benefits for the plastics
engineer. Weld lines can be positioned in non-critical visual and
structural regions. Wall thicknesses can be minimized while ensuring
acceptable mold filling. A broad processing window can be defined to give
acceptable molding quality despite typical shop floor variations in
material properties and molding machine performance and settings.

MF/FLOW-E for Windows also includes automatic runner and cavity flow
balancing to ensure that polymer fills all regions of the mold evenly.
Flow balancing minimizes material wastage and molding distortion due to
overpack.

MF/FLOW-E for Windows operates in the PC environment familiar to many
thousands of users. MF/FLOW-E for Windows uses a graphical user interface.
Pull down menus and scroll bars are controlled with the click of a mouse.
Only relevant menu options are activated when a task is selected, guiding
the user to the next task.

Suited to the molding shop and design office, MF/FLOW-E for Windows assists
the new and infrequent user to produce accurate and relevant results.
These results can easily be shared and understood by those unfamiliar with
plastics analysis, making MF/FLOW-E for Windows a powerful decision making
tool.

Moldflow, Inc. has pioneered computerized analysis of plastic injection
molding, which improves product performance, reduces scrap, shortens
design leadtimes and lowers design and manufacturing costs. Independent
studies have shown that the company has a dominant market share in its
area of specialty throughout the world. Products include: MOLDFLOW/FLOW --
which predicts flow patterns and characteristics within the mold;
MOLDFLOW/COOL --- which analyzes the vital role of heat exchange and
temperature control in the mold; MOLDFLOW/WARP which analyzes the net
distortion of the actual molded part and helps determine its mechanical
properties; MOLDFLOW/SHRINK -- a finite element analysis tool that meets
mold designer needs by predicting an optimum shrinkage value to meet
critical molding dimensions; MOLDFLOW/GAS -- designed to simulate and
analyze the emerging technology of Gas Injection Molding (GIM); and
MOLDFLOW/STRESS -- a structural analysis tool for fiber reinforced
plastics.
