SPECTRUM HOLOBYTE TO SUPPORT NEC'S STRATEGIC SOFTWARE PARTNER PROGRAM

ALAMEDA, Calif., Sept. 30,199 -- Spectrum HoloByte, a leading developer and
publisher of interactive computer entertainment, today announced its
participation in NEC Technologies' Strategic Software Partner (SSP)
program. A wide-reaching marketing program, SSP's objective is to leverage
the creativity and resources of participating multimedia companies to take
advantage of NEC's new MultiSpin high-performance CD-ROM reader. The plan
is designed to bring software to market sooner that takes advantage of
hardware advances.

Spectrum HoloByte Inc., a developer and manufacturer of interactive
computer simulation and video-games software, is best known for its
products Falcon, the popular F-16 flight simulation, and Tetris, the
famous game of falling blocks. Most recently, the company entered into an
agreement with Paramount Pictures which provides Spectrum HoloByte the
exclusive license to produce computer and video games using the name and
characters from the hit television series "Star Trek: The Next
Generation." Spectrum HoloByte has several CD-ROM entertainment titles in
the works and currently markets Iron Helix, a beautifully rendered science
fiction action adventure. A critical and sales success, Iron Helix was
developed by San Francisco-based Drew Pictures and is available for the
Mac CD-ROM. The game is scheduled for a November 1993 release for PC
CD-ROM.
