Multi-Tech Announces Video/Keyboard Multiplexer/Switch

MOUNDS VIEW, MINNESOTA--October 5, 1993--Multi-Tech Systems Inc., a leading
data communications technology company, announced the MultiArraySwitch
(model MS9) video and keyboard multiplexer for simplifying the control of
multiple server installations and processor arrays. The MS9 consolidates
the control of up to nine processors using a single monitor and keyboard.
The 19 inch rack-mount cabinet includes nine sets of 6-pin mini-DIN
keyboard and DB-15 VGA connectors each connected to a push button switch.
Cabling is included to connect up to nine processor keyboard and monitor
connectors to the MS9. The MultiArraySwitch will start shipping in
December, 1993 at a price of $895 (U.S.).

According to Multi-Tech President Raghu Sharma, "The MultiArraySwitch is a
companion product to our MultiArrayII processor system. Its rack-mount
design means that it can be installed directly above or below the
MultiArray2 and control all of its Single Board Computers (SBCs) using a
single monitor and keyboard. The clutter of monitors, keyboards, and
cabling normally associated with LAN control rooms can be a thing of the
past with the MultiArraySwitch. The convenience of not having to change
monitor and keyboard plugs or the cost savings of not having to purchase
separate keyboards and monitors, makes the addition of the
MultiArraySwitch an easy choice."

The MultiArraySwitch (MS9) comes in a 19 inch rack-mount cabinet housing
nine sets (positions 1 through 9) of "slave" input connectors for standard
computer keyboard and monitor signals. Each slave input connector set
consists of a 6-pin mini-DIN connector for the keyboard and a DB-15 VGA
connector for the monitor. The nine slave input connector sets are
multiplexed into a single "master" output keyboard and monitor connector
set via nine pushbutton switches. By pushing a switch, one selects the
corresponding slave keyboard/monitor as the one under master control and
monitoring. Sufficient cabling (six foot) is provided to connect the nine
slave monitors and keyboards.
