EA SPORTS' Best-Selling 16-Bit Hockey Game in North America, Canada &
Europe Just Got Better

NHL'94
For Sega Genesis & Super NES

SAN MATEO, Calif., September 30, 1993--For the first time in a video game,
EA SPORTS features all the teams in the NHL AND all tho players of the
NHLPA in NHL '94. Combining hockey's leading organizations gives this
title's game a big lift, as NHL '94 now features real team logos, the
Stanley Cup Playoffs, and every hockey player in the league.

In addition, NHL '94 improves on last year's version with an array of new
features. EA SPORTS' new 4 Way Play' adapter (Genesis only) lets players
go 2 on 2 to enhance the feeling of teamwork in the game. To give the game
an even more realistic feel, forwards now slap "one-timer" shots - a slap
shot taken from a pass - thereby creating an entirely new level of
offensive strategy. The defense now has the option to control the goalie
manually, so players can dive for loose pucks, charge out to cut off the
angle or make a dramatic kick save.

Other new features that recreate real NHL action are penalty shots and a
shoot-out mode. Players can now choose Maple Leaf's star Doug Gilmour to
go one-on-one against the Blackhawk's great goalie Ed Belfour in a
shoot-out showdown.

"By combining the game design with both the NHL and NHLPA, we feel our '94
game captures every aspect of realism, fast-action, and excitement found
in pro hockey," says Scott Orr, Vice President and Executive Producer of
NHL '94. "It's a fantastic way for real sports fans-- even novices - to
learn more about hockey teams, players, skills, and strategies. Add to
that the surroundings of a real arena, a screaming crowd, and rhythmic
organ music and all the makings of an incredible hockey experience are in
place.

In NHL '94 teams and player ratings are updated to reflect their
performance based on the '92-93 hockey season. New player animations,
including a checking animation where a defenseman crushes a forward into
the boards, and new offensive and defensive commands and strategies give
the '94 version an enhanced look and feel. And between periods, gamers
have access to updated player data such as power-play goals, short-handed
goals, assists, penalty shots, breakaways, and body-checks. The new
battery backup (Genesis only) saves personal records for up to seven users
on the same cart, which enhances competition among friends and improves
league play. Now gamers finally know who's #1.

To give the home team momentum and recreate the atmosphere of a real hockey
game, over 70 individualized pieces of rink organ music have been
digitized into NHL '94. Even the fans are more interactive, as they can be
seen getting more emotionally involved--even rowdy--in the game.

Specific features of the Super NES version of NHL '94 are highlighted by
completely new art and player animations designed exclusively for this
16-bit system. Players can send opponents over the boards and into the
opposing team's bench with the new crushing board-check animations.
Gameplay on the Super NES is also vastly improved by faster and smoother
overall player animations. Another new look is the more animated crowd--so
animated, in fact, that during a San Jose Shark's powerplay gamers might
catch the crowd mimicking the bite of a shark, better known as the "Shark
Chomp."

The launch of NHL '94 is supported by a multi-million dollar advertising
and promotion campaign worldwide.
