Alpine Image Systems and Teradyne Sign Boundary-Scan Marketing Deal

Boston, Mass. and Los Altos, Calif.--August 30, 1993--Teradyne, Inc.
(Boston) and Alpine Image Systems (AIS), Inc. (Los Altos, Calif.), two
leading vendors of boundary-scan test equipment, have signed an OEM
marketing agreement that licenses AIS to sell Teradyne's VICTORY
boundary-scan test software. AIS will sell VICTORY for use with their
proTEST boundary-scan test systems, making it easier to generate tests for
devices, boards, and systems containing IEEE Std. 1149.1-compliant parts.

The agreement covers Teradyne's VICTORY Virtual Interconnect Test (VIT)
software bundled with proTEST systems. VIT automatically generates test
vectors that detect faults on interconnects between boundary-scan devices
on a circuit board. Included in the terms of the agreement, AIS will
provide customer support for the combined proTEST/VICTORY VIT solution.

"Adding VICTORY to proTEST systems gives our users a more powerful way to
create boundary-scan test programs than ever before," said Julian
Marshall, president of AIS. "We chose to port Teradyne's VICTORY VIT
software to the proTEST systems because it is the industry's most widely
accepted boundary-scan ATPG (automatic test pattern generation) package.
Its ability to accept input in standard industry formats like BSDL
(boundary-scan description language) and EDIF and generate SVF (Serial
Vector Format) outputs made it the obvious choice."

"We're excited about signing another partner for VICTORY," said Walter
Vahey, VICTORY product manager, Teradyne. "The AIS proTEST system is
generating a lot of interest from our VICTORY customers and prospects. The
combination of VICTORY and proTEST gives customers low-cost boundary-scan
test equipment with automatic test program generation."

AIS Marketing Manager Ellis Goldberg noted, "It's easier than ever for test
engineers to quickly generate interconnect test programs with minimum
effort. The combination of VICTORY and proTEST make 1149.1 testing more
comprehensive than ever before."
VICTORY VIT, bundled with AIS's svf2avl translator (which translates
VICTORY's SVF output to AIS's AVL test language), is priced at $14,995
from AIS. Current VICTORY users can purchase the svf2avl translator
separately for $4,995. proTEST systems are priced from $7,995. Prices
outside the U.S. are slightly higher. proTEST systems are available
through AIS distributors worldwide. Delivery is 30 to 60 days.

AIS designs, manufactures, and markets boundary-scan test systems,
including extensive test development tools, 1149.1 controllers, a wide
assortment of related hardware accessories, and fixturing. The systems are
used for test development, manufacturing test, and field service
applications.
