Subject: [*] EjectDisk 3.1.5 - Eject disks of all types with a single key!

EjectDisk is an extremely useful application/extension combination.
With the touch of a key you can eject any removable media from your
computer, ranging from the humble floppy to the latest Jaz cartridge.
You can even open the (empty) CD/DVD tray. EjectDisk is similar to
the Command-Y function of the Finder in function only--unlike that
command, EjectDisk can evict storage from your desktop from within
any program, and you don't have to select the disk beforehand.

Additionally, EjectDisk can be set to eject any CDs still in the
computer when the computer is shut down.

EjectDisk 3.1.5 fixes a bug which stopped EjectDisk working with
internal IDE Zip/Jaz drives.

Mac Grayliner displays a map of the entire Earth, showing day, night, and
more importantly, the terminator between day and night. Studies have shown
that
enhanced radio propagation occurs between two points which are both on the
day/night terminator.

Now with version 2.1.1, the locations of active NCDXF/IARU beacons can be
displayed in real time, along with the beacon callsign, country, and
location. This should be helpful for identifying DX openings.

Mac Grayliner requires a Mac with a color display.

This is the latest edition (Sept 1, 2000) of the Mac-FTP-list and should
replace version 4.6.0.

The Mac-FTP-list lists over 120 mac anonymous ftp sites (some with notes),
over 100 Mac web pages, and contains some instructions on how to use anonymous
ftp and find files as well a format chart showing which programs decompress
and decode which files. Also there is a section on how to use certain files.

This Stuffit Deluxe 5.0 archive contains both the text and html versions of
the Mac-FTP-list.

To ensure that the columns in the Format Chart section line up correctly the
document's text must be in a monospaced font such as Courier 10pt, Monaco 9pt,
or a PC equivalent.

Subject: [*] Tex-Edit Plus 4.0.1J - Japanese Version

This is the Japanese version of the Tex-Edit Plus package.

Tex-Edit Plus is a scriptable, styled text editor that fills the gap
between Apple's bare-bones SimpleText and a full-featured word
processor. It's fast, efficient, and has a clean, uncluttered interface.
It's also great for cleaning up text which is transmitted over the
Internet.

Tex-Edit Plus features: PowerPC native (fat), extensive munging
abilities, unlimited file size, Drag&Drop support, AppleScript support,
Word Services support, Speech Manager support, picture handling, sound
handling, movie handling, ability to create SimpleText Read-Only
documents, and much more. System 7.0 or better required.

NEW IN 4.0.1 -- Tex-Edit Plus 4.0.1 incorporates the newest version of
the WASTE text engine, which eliminates several bugs. A bug noted during
launch on certain systems has been fixed. A bug noted when opening
SimpleText files that contain non-breaking space characters and no
pictures has been fixed. TEXT files that start with 0xFEFF or 0xFFFE
(BOM) are now automatically opened as unicode. AppleScript can now force
change of the font text encoding (just like holding down the option key
when selecting a font in the Font menu).

VERSION 4 :

Tex-Edit Plus 4.0 represents a major upgrade, including many new
features--all scriptable, of course! (This version requires MacOS 7.1 or
newer.)

Tex-Edit Plus supports unlimited undo and redo. A new "strikethrough"
text style is supported. Flexible superscripting and subscripting are
supported (in one point increments). "Text hiliting" is supported,
allowing hiliter-like emphasis of any text.

Tex-Edit Plus can read and write UTF-16 (unicode) text. The new file
format is fully backward compatible with previous versions.

Each paragraph can be formatted individually. These new paragraph
settings include text justification (left, center, right, full), space
above, space below, left indent, right indent, first line indent (or
hanging outdent), and bottom border (in one of several line styles).
Each paragraph can also have its own line spacing (in one point
increments) and dominant text direction (useful for right-to-left
scripts).

Subject: Can't print: Netscape to HP Deskwriter 540

I recently resurrected our HP Deskwriter onto our Power Mac G3 (Mac OS
8.6). I downloaded the latest HP driver (6.0.4), and everything seemed
to work fine, UNTIL I tried to print something from Netscape (version
4.75). I get the following error: "a printing error occurred (-9363)".

I tried to find this problem on the HP website, but ended up going around
in circles. Is there a way to contact HP to report the problem, other
than paying $2.50 a minute for phone support? Their email support is
product based, and there is no category for DeskWriter printers.

I also tried the Netscape website, and did manage to send an email to
their support group. We'll see if I get a reply.

If anyone knows of a solution to this problem, it will be much
appreciated. My only solution so far is to use Microsoft IE.

There is a program called "Announcements" which does all that Print Shop
did, and more. It was published by Parsons Technology. But, they do not list
it on their web site. I got it as a special offer from some other company,
so, it may have been a close-out deal.

I did some searching on the web and in a bunch of catalogs, and came up with
only The Print Shop Publishing Suite, from Mindscape, listed in Mac Zone.
But there is not enough info to tell what all it does. And Mindscape does
not list it on there web site.

I did find PrintMaster« Gold Publishing Suite For Mac, A collection of
graphics, photos, and templates for all your Macintosh print creativity
needs.
http://www.mattelinteractive.com/store/product.asp?OID=4140173&SC=0120056015
&CID=4

I could not get a clear idea of whether it is very good for greeting cards.

I often make my own greeting cards, using a graphics program, such as
Canvas, PhotoShop, Graphic Converter, etc. If the program allows pasting in
pictures, placing text, and rotating selected areas, you can easily make
your own greeting cards. Of course, one needs a good collection of pictures,
such as I have been collecting for my Mac user group over the years.

I feel that if a company will not continue offering a program, which had
been popular, and offers nothing else to take it's place, then it is not
immoral to exchange copies of those programs.

There is another alternative, and that is to use Virtual PC on the Mac in
order to run Windows software. It's no fun, but it works.
